Another update

All Together

Well the break ended up being for a little longer than expected but was fun, and I've started another painting for the hunt series

Holiday!

So, I'm taking a holiday from work for a week or maybe two.  As Issie's no longer a baby it's time for her to have her very first proper big girls bedroom :)  So It's time to get the really big paintbrushes out!  See you in a week! :D

So today was a bit of a non-starter art wise, other life got in the way and by the end of the day I felt a little crabby, when asked why by a friend I simply said:
"I'm tired and artistic"

What Katie Did Next

Just planning my next painting and prepping the canvas so I can get started in the morning.  I love the anticipation of starting a new one.  I'll post a tomorrow :)

Almost there!!

Had a bit of a distracted day but not sure I could have got much further as that last hand and the face are a little too mushy to finish today, but here goes, on that final leg now :)

Random thought for the day

So before I head out to my studio for the day, I thought I'd leave you with a question that I've often asked myself.  (I hope you can follow this train of thought)
Ok so we all know what colour is, and we all know the names of the colours - well the basic ones anyway, for most of us.  We all know when someone talks about something Red what colour they are talking about.  Following me so far I hope
Now, what if the colour we see with our eyes and call red isn't the same as the colour someone else sees?  They still call it red because that's what they've been taught to call red, but what if what they see is what we'd call blue, or grey or green? We could all be going round seeing the world in different colours... If only we could see through someone else's eyes we could find out!

So her eare todays additions to the painting, coming along nicely I think.  Bit of drawing this afternoon, if it doesn't end up in the bin I'll post a pic later ;)

Painting by Numbers

for a long time I wondered why artists used the grid system for mapping out their composition, and today I realised why.  Yeah so OK it feels a little like painting by numbers to start with but boy is it faster.  So here's the reworked canvas so far

Arghhh!!

So I got into the studio today having spent a few days off recovering from a tummy bug, took one look at my new painting and realised that everything about the layout was wrong and that subsequently all my measurements were out!  Arghhh!!!!
I'll post a pic of the revised version tomorrow when there's something to see other than lines all over the place...

So I've finally found some direction and here's the first painted installment.  I'm pretty crap with technology so you'll have to bear with me until I work out how to make this thing do what I want!  As for the painting, it's the first stage so it's not finished so please don't judge it as a finished piece!!
